Unica expands in the Northern Netherlands with the acquisition of Pranger-Rosier
Hoevelaken (The Netherlands), 10 May 2021 - Unica, a Triton Fund IV portfolio company and technical service provider, has signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Frisian Pranger-Rosier Group. This is the largest independent installation company in the Northern Netherlands with a turnover of approximately € 55 million and 250 employees. Pranger-Rosier has been active since 1967 and has since grown into an all-round installation company with offices in Dokkum, Leeuwarden and Sneek. The proposed acquisition of Pranger-Rosier is the largest acquisition in the history of Unica, which is one of the largest technical service providers in our country with a realized turnover of € 539 million in 2020 and approximately 3,000 employees.
Reinforcement of regional presence
With this takeover, Unica strengthens its regional position in the Northern Netherlands, where it is already active with the offices in Groningen and Emmen. Thanks to the acquisition, Unica will gain access to a new customer group in Friesland and other parts of the Northern Netherlands and Unica will expand its activities there, particularly in the field of technical management and maintenance. After the takeover, Pranger-Rosier with its three branches will be included in the branch network of Unica Building Services, which will expand the national coverage to 17 locations. The acquisition will be final after the Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has given its approval.
John Quist, CEO of Unica: “Pranger-Rosier fits in perfectly with Unica in terms of service and culture and gives us the desired reinforcement in the Northern Netherlands. The merger can offer many benefits to both companies. The acquisition of Synto in Zeeland in 2019 was a comparable takeover aimed at further regional expansion of our services. Regional anchoring remains part of the acquisition strategy, in combination with strengthening our specialized business clusters. ”
Pranger-Rosier: accelerating growth under its own name
The board of Pranger-Rosier in turn sees the affiliation with Unica as an important step to accelerate growth and expand the number of specialisms. The existing management team will remain connected to the company. Pranger-Rosier has a strong regional brand awareness and reputation and will continue to operate under its own name from the existing offices in Dokkum, Leeuwarden and Sneek in order to maintain its recognisability in the market.
“As a result of the acquisition, we can offer our customers a broader range of services,” says Marc Mulder, general manager of Pranger-Rosier. “We say goodbye to the Pranger and Rosier families but become part of a company with a similar family DNA. We also see many advantages in Unica's decentralized business model, which gives its companies a lot of autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to further expanding our services as part of Unica in the North of the Netherlands.”
Combination of organic growth and through acquisitions
Unica realizes its growth strategy through organic growth on the one hand, by tapping into new customer segments from the existing companies. In addition, Unica strengthens its organization with regional or specialized acquisitions. Targeted acquisitions are part of the growth strategy for each cluster. Unica expects to be able to make several acquisitions every year in the coming years. For this year Unica expects to realize a turnover of at least € 600 million and a further growth of the return.
