Unica acquires PCT Koudetechniek

Hoevelaken (The Netherlands), 17 March 2020 - Unica, a Triton portfolio company and a technical service provider has expanded its network of companies with PCT Koudetechniek. With the acquistion of the company, Unica strengthens its position in refrigeration, in which PCT is one of the leading specialists in the Netherlands. PCT has 35 employees and is mainly active in the food sector, both in industrial processing and transport. The company will become part of the Unica Industry Solutions cluster, to which the PCT portfolio is an excellent addition. PCT wants to enter the next growth phase by joining Unica.

PCT Koudetechniek was founded in 1984 and takes care of the complete engineering / design, manufacture, assembly, installation, service and separate deliveries of refrigeration technology and also develops software for the control and visualization of cooling and freezing installations. PCT has an excellent reputation and continues to operate under its own name for the time being due to its recognisability in the market. The company is managed by director / owner Sander van den Heuvel. His father Riny van den Heuvel, founder of the company, is a consultant to PCT.

PCT Koudetechniek will become part of the cluster Unica Industry Solutions, which already has a great deal of knowledge of production processes, mechanical engineering and control technology. With the expertise and services of PCT, knowledge of refrigeration technology is added as a new specialized discipline. Stricter laws and regulations, the growth of international food transshipment and the increase in extreme weather make refrigeration technology in the food sector an essential part of the business process. PCT's solutions give substance to this and are in line with the technology of Unica Industry Solutions in terms of technology.

It strengthens Unica's portfolio so that, through the acquisition of PCT, we will be able to offer customers a broader range of products and services.” Refrigeration technology is an interesting domain in breadth for Unica. In addition to industry and food processing, expertise in cooling technology is also relevant. For example, for cooling data centers, conditioning laboratories, operating rooms and industrial environments and regular air conditioning in buildings. These are domains in which Unica is already active.

PCT Koudetechniek has grown considerably in recent years and, according to director / owner Sander van den Heuvel, is looking for the next growth phase: “Unica is a strong, appealing market party that has a lot of experience with acquiring companies and by giving them the resources to accelerate their growth. We are very confident that Unica guarantees the continuity of our family business and at the same time enables us to exploit our market potential even better.” Sander van den Heuvel remains director of the company.

The acquisition of PCT Koudetechniek is the second acquisition in a short time as the acquisition of measurement and control specialist Numan & Kant was announced early March 2020. Unica has also strengthened its network of companies in the past year and a half with the companies Dotwood (cluster ICT Solutions), Boele Fire Protection (cluster Fire Safety), Brainpact (cluster Industry Solutions) and Synto (cluster Building Services). Unica expects to make further acquisitions in the current year, either to strengthen its specialized activities or to further expand its regional presence.
